For a long time, giving post-dated cheques to the landlord or their agents to pay rent in Dubai has been common practice. Tenants may now pay rent via Ejari direct debit, owing to a recent initiative by the Dubai Land Department (DLD). Here is an explanation of the rental payment procedure when utilizing Ejari’s direct debit.
HOW CAN I PAY MY RENT THROUGH EJARI DIRECT DEBIT?
In partnership with the UAE Central Bank, the Dubai Land Department (DLD) announced the initial proposal for direct debits in July 2022. In February 2023, Ejari was completely integrated into the system, allowing tenants to make rental payments via direct debit using Ejari. All parties concerned will benefit from the Noqodi Ejari Direct Debit Service.
HOW DOES THIS SYSTEM WORK?
At the time of contract signing or renewal, landlords and tenants will mutually agree on a payment plan. According to the DLD manual, they will decide on regular payments from the tenant’s accounts. This document also explains how to set up the Noqodi Ejari Direct Debit Service. Please keep in mind that tenants must complete an authorization form to receive instalment payments.
In the existing method, neither side may modify the dates after they have been agreed upon. This functionality may be added in the near future as part of a planned upgrade. You can choose how many payments will be made each year. For example, you may set up the needed Dubai rent payment in 2, 4, 6, or 12 installments via direct debit.
To utilize this service, you must first sign up for the Noqodi e-wallet. The procedure is straightforward:
- Go to the Noqodi website.
- On the home page, click the “Sign Up Now” button.
- Choose “Personal” for your account type.
- Fill up the needed registration information. Your account should be linked to a valid mobile phone number and email address.
- You may now login and utilize your new Noqodi account.
